Esther and Jack A. Hidary
Maimonides Medical Center
Best of Maimonides Award
Jack A. and Esther Hidary are devotees of Maimonides Medical Center. Jack serves on the Board of Trustees and is a member of the Compensation Committee. He also chairs the Physical Facilities Committee which superintends the new medical office building on Ninth Avenue. Esther, whose relationship with the Hospital dates back many years, is a highly-active “boots on the ground” volunteer, helping where she can in the emergency room and overseeing the successful Patient Advocate Program for the Sephardic community.
A real estate veteran, Jack has more than 30 years of experience in buying and operating commercial real estate. As Founder and Chairman of Hidrock Properties, he oversees daily operations at his firm and is responsible for setting - and ensuring that the company meets - its strategic goals and objectives. Founded in 1982, Hidrock has since grown to be one of the few niche full-service New York City real estate firms specializing in hotel development. Jack is an alumnus of Pace University’s Lubin School of Business.
Esther began volunteering at the Yeshivah of Flatbush as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and increasingly took on greater leadership roles. She was the first to serve as President-Elect a year before her presidency. She presided during the opening of the Rose and Chaim Fraiman Building, and Jack worked right alongside, serving on the committee responsible for the development of the building. Esther’s dynamism, creativity, warmth and friendliness are qualities that draw others in, and have increased parental involvement in the Yeshivah of Flatbush.
The Hidarys are members of Congregation Beth Torah in Brooklyn, and also active members of Congregation Magen David of West Deal, New Jersey. They support many charitable causes, including the Israel Cancer Research Fund (ICFR) and Sephardic Bikur Holim (SBH). Jack follows a longstanding family tradition by serving on the Board of Directors of the Sephardic community’s Hebra Kadisha, Congregation Rodfeh Zedek. The Hidarys also run and manage the Abe and Grace Hidary Charitable Foundation, which provides financial support to various charities.
The Hidarys truly define the phrase Champions of Healing. We are proud to honor their exemplary friendship, leadership, compassion and dedication with the presentation of our Best of Maimonides Award.
